Arturo Ripstein and Rosen is a filmmaker, born in Mexico City , the 13 December of 1943 .
was born into a Jewish family . Son of producer Alfredo Ripstein , began his career as a young assistant Luis Buñuel . In 1965 directed his first film Time to die , written by Carlos Fuentes and Gabriel García Márquez . In 1997 Ripstein won National Award , [ 1] the second filmmaker (after Buñuel) to get it.
In June 2003 he is awarded the nationality English for naturalization papers, he and his wife, screenwriter Paz Alicia Garciadiego , who has written the screenplays many of his films.
